Mike “Huck” Huckleberry is serving his first term representing the 70th House District, which consists of all of Montcalm County, and in Ionia County, the cities of Ionia and Belding, and Easton, Keene, Orleans, and Otisco Townships, and part of Ionia Township.
As State Representative, Huckleberry will focus on:
- Attracting good-paying jobs for workers in Ionia and Montcalm counties, and across Michigan, while protecting the jobs we have from being further outsourced.
- Revitalizing our economy by re-training and educating Michigan's base of highly skilled workers in order to prepare them for 21st Century jobs, and increasing investment in emerging fields such as renewable energy.
- Working with Michigan's agriculture industry to support and aggressively market our farmers; helping grow small-to-medium businesses and drive our economy.
Prior to being elected to the House, Huckleberry served on the Greenville Task Force to save the Electrolux refrigerator plant, as well as on the Greenville Chamber Board of Directors. He was twice elected as president of the Cedar Springs Chamber of Commerce and was named Citizen of the Year by the Chamber.
A small business owner, Huckleberry has operated Huckleberry’s Restaurant in Greenville since 1991. A lifelong resident of West Michigan, Huckleberry attended Grand Rapids Community College and the Davenport College of Business (now known as Davenport University). He lives in Greenville with his wife Linda, and has five children and three grandchildren.
