Mike "Huck" Huckleberry is serving his first term representing the 70th House District. He hit the ground running by working to create jobs for Montcalm and Ionia County families and turn our economy around.
Huckleberry has:
- Been instrumental in introducing and passing the "Hire Michigan First" plan, which ensures that when taxpayer dollars are used to create jobs, Michigan residents – not people from other states or countries – get first crack at those jobs.
- Sponsored a plan to create powerful incentives for renewable energy development and manufacturing, and energy efficiency programs to create good-paying jobs for residents and to make Michigan a world leader in these emerging technologies.
- Hosted meetings and seminars to help local businesses take advantage of free services to help them do business with the state and secure state contracts through the Buy Michigan First program.
- Introduced a plan to combat elder abuse in Michigan by strengthening consumer protections for seniors and increasing penalties for those who financially exploit them.
Prior to being elected to the House, Huckleberry served on the Greenville Task Force to save the Electrolux refrigerator plant, as well as on the Greenville Chamber Board of Directors.
A small business owner, Huckleberry has operated Huckleberry’s Restaurant in Greenville since 1991. Huckleberry, a lifelong resident of West Michigan, attended Grand Rapids Community College and graduated from the Davenport College of Business (now known as Davenport University). He lives in Greenville with his wife Linda. They have five children and three grandchildren.
